Avery Mason

Dance Instructor & Assistant Instructor

Birthday: October 9

3 Phrases to Describe My Dance Background:

1. I started dancing when I was 2 years old at Roswell City Dance Center,  where, funny story, one of our faculty members, Mrs. Shannon, was one of my very first dance teachers!!! I also grew up with my parents (Mrs. Beth & Mr. Jeff) as dance teachers there as well!

2. When I was 4 years old, my mom switched jobs to be around me and my sister more often, which is where my Rhythm Dance Center journey began. I took recreational classes for about 2 years, and then was invited to Mini Stars, or at the time “Starlets” LOL. I danced in edge for 10 years, and graduated in 2020! (I was Aurora in our year end show Rhythm Upon a Dream/Screen in 2020.)

3. After graduation I have now been at Kennesaw State University as a Dance major for 3 years, and hoping to graduate in the spring of 2024! I plan to continue my journey with choreographing , teaching, and dancing after graduation!

Rhythm Role: My role at Rhythm mostly consists of teaching, assisting, and choreography here and there!! I am teaching a lot of Hip Hop, as I am the Hip Hop teacher for the Spotlight program. I also teach lots of Jazz moves, being the Mini and Junior Connection Jazz teacher. I assist and teach recreational Hip Hop, Tap, Jazz, Acro, Contemporary, and Body Awareness as well.

Years Teaching at Rhythm: This is my 5th year teaching at Rhythm (and I have been assisting since middle school)!

Fun Fact: I am also in a sorority at KSU, Delta Phi Epsilon!

Favorite Rhythm Year-End Show: Whole Rhythm World

When not at Rhythm, I am usually doing either school, or sorority things! I hold two positions in DPhiE (Special Events Coordinator Assistant, and Dance Marathon Chair), which combined with school keeps me pretty busy. But when I do have free time, I love going on cute dates with my friends, my boyfriend, or even myself. I have a pretty serious shopping/Pinteresting addiction, I love being outside and in the sun, and I could probably eat food and watch Netflix for the rest of my life and never get sick of it. :)
